My Bailey Van Winner Unveiled!
Amid great excitement the winning entry
to the My Bailey Van Caravan Design Competition was unveiled
at 2.00pm on Tuesday 14th October at the International Caravan
& Motorhome Show, NEC, Birmingham.
Visitors to the Bailey stand were able to view a proto-type
of the winning design submitted by Iain and Julia Bramble.
Their entry - the Bailey Brambler - is an innovative new
family caravan devised for them to enjoy with their daughter
Ellie and Son Alex. This flexible layout features two dedicated
living and sleeping areas, an L-shaped kitchen and spacious
end washroom. The judges were impressed both with overall
concept as well as the attention to detail of what was a
very well thought-out design.
Four generations of the Bramble Family were present to
see their one-of-a-kind caravan for the first time. Television
Presenter and caravan convert Rowland Rivron was also on
hand to present the keys to the winner. This was apt as
it was Rowland and his family who launched the competition
at the NEC in February where they took the wraps off 'their
Bailey van' - the Ranger Rivron.
Bailey will now produce a second version of the Bailey
Brambler, based on the first prototype, which will constitute
the competition prize. The Brambles will then collect their
caravan from their local retailer, Ropers Leisure of Catterick
Bridge in North Yorkshire, later this year.
Following the positive feedback received from exhibition
visitors on the Brambler, Bailey is now giving serious consideration
to introducing a model based on this layout into its product
range early next year. Watch this space for more information!

My Bailey Van Winner announced
Have you ever fancied yourself as a budding
caravan designer? Think you can do a better job than the
professionals?
This was the challenge laid down to Caravan Club members
by Bailey of Bristol in February this year by inviting them
to take part in the My Bailey Van Caravan Design Competition
and providing them with the once in a lifetime opportunity
to win a caravan of their own design.
This competition not only provides one owner with a wonderful
prize, but it also gives Bailey a very useful insight into
what caravanners are looking for in a new touring caravan,
which will be of great benefit in future product development.
The response to the competition was fantastic with over
850 people submitting entries. The standard was incredibly
high with a great deal of thought and effort going into
every design. They varied considerably from simple modifications
to existing models to radical new layouts to suit a wide
variety of applications and lifestyles.
The judging panel comprised: Bailey of Bristol's Design
Director Andi Linklater and Marketing Director Simon Howard;
The Caravan Club's Head of Publications Barry Williams;
The National Caravan Council's Deputy Director General Alicia
Dunne and Sally Pepper Editor of Which Caravan and Go Caravanning
Magazines'. Owing to the large volume and high quality of
entries the judges faced a difficult task in choosing the
overall winner. However after much deliberation they all
agreed on a winning design
The winner of the competition was Iain Bramble who, along
with his wife Julia, created the affectionately named "Bailey
Bramble" - an innovative new family caravan for them
to enjoy with their daughter Ellie and Son Alex. This flexible
layout features two dedicated living and sleeping areas,
an L-shaped kitchen and spacious end washroom. The judges
were impressed both with overall concept as well as the
attention to detail of what was a very well thought-out
design.
Bailey Design Director Andi Linklater, the man ultimately
charged with building the winning entry stated "The
Bailey Bramble was a worthy winner in a very strong field
and I am looking forward to working with Ian and Julia to
make their dream caravan a reality".
On the overall response to the competition Simon Howard,
Bailey Marketing Director said "We totally overwhelmed
with the quantity and quality of entries received. The amount
of time and trouble people had gone to was really quite
inspiring"
"We know from experience that Club Members are never
short of ideas when it comes to caravan design and it was
great to see so many them put down on paper. It is up to
us now to use this information to help improve our future
products" he added.
The winning entry will be unveiled on Tuesday 14th October
at the forthcoming International Caravan and Motorhome Show,
NEC Birmingham (Bailey Stand Number 1915, Hall 19).
